About Humanin 10mg
Humanin was discovered in surviving neurons from an Alzheimer's brain, screened for factors that conferred resistance to amyloid-beta toxicity, and its identification established that the mitochondrial genome encodes signalling peptides at all. It acts through a cell-surface receptor complex involving CNTFR, WSX-1 and gp130, and also interacts with Bax to inhibit apoptosis. Circulating levels decline with age, which is the observation driving most of the longevity interest. MOTS-c, already in this catalogue, is the other well-characterised member of the same class.
Storage and reconstitution
Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C in a dry, dark environment. Reconstitute in bacteriostatic water. Once reconstituted, store at 2-8°C and use within 30 days. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Lyophilized powder is stable at room temperature for shipping and short-term storage.
